How WWOOF Works

WWOOF connects visitors with organic farmers for a cultural and educational exchange, providing you with the opportunity to learn practical farming skills, be part of the organic agriculture movement, and join a global community conscious of ecological farming practices.

Check out these three steps to get started:

1. Join as a WWOOFer

Ignite your WWOOF journey with a simple first step! Register as a WWOOFer (farm visitor), pay a small membership fee, and unlock farm stay opportunities on 1,400 host farms, gardens, ranches and homesteads across the USA.

Your membership gains you access to unlimited farm visits for a full year. With your own profile, you can let hosts know the type of experience you're looking for and what you're hoping to learn while on the farm.

2. Find Your Farm

It's time to unleash your farming adventure! Browse through hosts who are ready to welcome you year-round and provide fresh organic food, accommodations, and farm experiences in exchange for your helping hands.

You can search for hosts based on location, learning opportunities, lodging, languages spoken, stay duration, kid-friendly farms and so much more. Reach out to hosts directly to ask questions and collaboratively plan your farm stay.

3. Get Your Hands Dirty

Now it's time to embark on an unforgettable farm stay! Whether you stay for a few days or several weeks, get ready to experiencing the magic of sustainable living.

Feedback from WWOOFers

“Earlier this month I completed my first solo trip to Vermont. I was able to stay at a homestead through WWOOF. WWOOF helped me explore a whole new way of living. This city girl held chickens, harvested and even moved sheep!

I wholeheartedly recommend taking a trip with WWOOF, so many homesteads/farms need help year round! I stayed with this amazing family for a week and left with memories for a lifetime.”

- Mayana

“I came to the farm with no prior knowledge on farming. They were great teachers and try to tailor what they teach to your interests. They have an amazing passion for organic farming and they love sharing it. It made for a great learning experience.

Everyone was so kind and easy to talk to. I enjoyed every conversation I had and learned a lot from them! I felt really welcomed and accepted. To top everything off, the food was amazing. I wish I could’ve stayed longer!”

- Matt

“After two weeks on the farm, I left feeling rejuvenated and nourished both physically and spiritually. The host has a deep respect not only for the land she grows on and the plants that have been given a home there, but also for the people that help her along the way.

My stay at the farm was filled with time with the goats, sheep and pig, learning tons of new recipes, construction and lots more. I can’t wait to go back!”

- Amann

"We’ve had WWOOFers for each season of the year to help with our homestead and animals for more than four years now. It’s a mutually beneficial relationship.

They learn about Alaska, living on a homestead, sled dogs and we learn something new from each and every one of them that enhances our lives. They become part of our extended family!"

- Linda, WWOOF Host in Alaska
